Social media is like consuming a drug. It is a slow poison. Globally, 62.3% of the world’s population uses social media, with an average daily usage of 2 hours and 23 minutes. Are you also addicted to Instagram, Facebook or any other social media. Every 2 in 5 , is a social media addict. You must be wondering how, Social media uses us. Let me break it to you,

If you’re not paying for the product then you are the product.

Why do the advertisers pay to show ads, they pay in exchange of showing ads to us. we’re the product, out attention is the product being sold to advertisers.

On January 24, 2024, a data breach referred to as "Mother of All Breaches" (MOAB) became publicly known, exposing 26 billion records from various sources, including LinkedIn and Twitter. The leaked data consisted of usernames, passwords, and sensitive information, originating from both current breaches and historical leaks. The MOAB breach featured new, previously unpublished information and included data from government organizations in countries such as the United States, Brazil, Germany, and more. This is not the first time privacy being breached.

Data breaches in social media platforms have become increasingly common in recent years, affecting millions of users worldwide. While these news about privacy breaches is coming up, it’s high time to quit social media. Protecting your privacy means disconnecting from the digital noise. It’s time to reclaim control over your personal data. These privacy breaches are a wake-up-call to prioritise personal data protection. Quit social media to defend your digital media, since Privacy is not a privilege, it’s a right.
